So many happy faces meet and greet each other as Ohio is coming out of its frigid temps..
Happy that spring is around the corner.Looking forward to the Robins chirps,
shedding the bulky clothes, taking in a deep breath of the fresh spring air.....
oh crap!
What is that funky smell and all those brown clumps on the lawn?
OH...CRAP!!!
If you have a dog or three dogs like us, you know the gifts that you'll
be receiving as spring arrives.
No, not pretty crocus.
You don't notice at first the many poo pies that you precious pooches quickly dispose of when it is -10 degrees
and snow is flying in your face when you 'let them do their thing' in the months of winter.
When it starts to warm up, you are just as excited as the next,
until
you see it.....the snow melting is slowly uncovering
IT!
As the snow melts they quickly keep multiplying like a plane dropped a huge load of cargo
meant for enemy territory...
Land mines ready to be stepped on and explode underfoot.
I quickly think of my battle plan.....
"Sweetie, I'm feeling a little crappy, I think I'll take the girls to Blendon
Woods to get some fresh air. Why don't you just enjoy some time by yourself.
But could you do one tiny thing while we're out.....clean up the yard ?! Love You!"
As Joe turns to check what would need to be picked up in a snowy yard, he quickly sees
"oh _ _ _ _" he says under his breath.
By the time he turns around, I'm out of the house, having the girls loaded up and the engine running,
my escape is swift.
Joe runs outside and is saying something. I wave and give an air kiss.
I yell to the girls not to look back were going to make it out, don't worry about Dad he'll be fine. They shoot me a look like I'm crazy. They will understand soon enough when they are left to venture into the cow pasture.
We made it, I roll down my window and take in a breath of spring air, enjoying my freedom from backyard poo.
I give my girls a lovingly look -so glad that I can give them the gift of fresh smell, and save them from the terifying site that lays in the backyard where they scooped up snow to make their yummy snow ice cream.
By now I'm at Hamilton Road at a red light. A lady looks over and smiles. I smile back.
People are nicer, the birds are chirping, and my head has stopped thinking about all the horrible crap in the world.
Yay, it's spring!
(this posting is dedicated to my brave hubby and all the other landmine scooper's who help make all of our springs less crappy- Thank you)
