Does anyone else remember the tune by Peter, Paul, and Mary that went, "We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. How about you, you, you? You can come too, too, too. We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo."? That song has been stuck in my head this entire week (still is, in fact) ever since we headed off to the Columbus zoo with SJMS. It was wonderful weather on Wednesday to go. Josie was loving EVERY animal. bird and plant, I have the photos to prove it! When I was able to steal the camera from her, I quickly snapped as many photos as I could of my little monkey Josie!! She took most of the pictures of the animals that are posted here, so I needed some fun shots of her soaking in this time to just be free with her friends. I love going to the zoo with my girls, but it was wonderful watching Josie get excited with Mia, Anna, and Amirah. These girlfriends have lots of fun together!!!
You will see a photo collage of Anna at the Zoo also. This may be the reason why the Zoo,Zoo song is stuck in my head... I also went to the Columbus Zoo today!! The weather not so good. In fact I almost had a fight over the last Zoo rain poncho- it was a kids size and basically cover one boob, but hey, I needed that poncho!!!(I'm kidding about the fight , but not the boob part)Anyway, everyone that know my animal loving Anna knows that her favorite animal is the elephant. she has done research projects on them, gone to the zoo just to watch them, she follows the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, and gives to WWF to support The elephants (along with others. So when Anna heard that I was Going to see Phoebe with her new calf before her, I promised that I would take her today. It was so worth going two days in a row. Yesterday was beautiful but more crowded. Today it rained buckets, but we were able to spend as much time as we needed to relish in the sweetness of the mamma and Baby Elephant love, ask questions and allow Anna to soak in the view on her own terms instead of being pushed along while trying to steal a glimpse of the new baby with her Momma. The baby was born on March 27, 2009 weighing 330 lbs!! Phoebe her Momma gained 700 lbs. Oh My!! The Papa is Coco and he had another calf named Bodi with Phoebe. They have narrowed the names to Beco, Damai, Sattva and Siddharth. On Mothers Day we will find out what the precious little guy will be named. I am personally rooting for Beco, which combines Phoebe and Cocos names together. Anna is unsure, she wants to research the names and find out what their meanings are.
So even through rain and shine the Columbus Zoo is a great Zoo,Zoo,Zoo(Why, Peter Paul and Mary Why?- You have cursed me)to visit!
